rate special trenitalia info
Hi everyone, I saw on the trenitalia site
today a eurostar special 29 euro, limited
availability, but I can't seem to find the
link or a code anywhere on the site to
access the special rate. It looks like this
can be used on 1st or 2nd class, which
would be great instead of the 60-something
normal pricing for 1c rome-venice. anyone
out there have the code, or ideas? thanks

You may be trying to book too early. I was poking around on the sncf (french rail) website, and found that I couldn't get schedules/bookings more that 60 days out; but I haven't done much train travel (we usually rent a car).
Have you considered ryanair? They fly Venice (Treviso) to Rome. I'm not sure how much faster it is by the time you get to/from the airports, but the base fare was quite cheap when I checked recently.

to get him to travel with me....so
far it has worked for 11 years...
and he really doesn't want to fly
inter country in Italy..

Treviso airport is out of town a ways. I would guess it is about a 45 minute bus ride; there are direct buses that go from Plaza Roma in Venice to the Treviso airport for the Ryanair flights. To my mind, it is only moderately less convenient, though you may have to watch the Ryanair nits as well (luggage weight, checkin times). They use a different airport in Rome too; I don't know the convenience (or lack) on that end. I expect you can use the search box and find threads on treviso or ciampino.

Hi daisy,
I went to the English site at www.trenitalia.com and chose the 10:32 ES* from Venice SL.
This brings up the screen that says "Fares Choice"
Click on the pull down menu "Intera".
Click on the "In Eurostar 29E"
Choose your seat.
Choose "ticketless"
Enjoy your train ride.
RE: flying Treviso to Ciampino on Ryanair - you will lose a lot of time getting to/from the airports, plus you have to pay for the buses.

ira--as always you have the answer!!!
I just "practiced" that and voila!
such a great deal..29 euro instead of
67,14! I now have my calendar marked
for march exactly 60 days out from our
rome/venice leg.
Thanks again-you are the best!!
