Rapallo albergo

Has anyone stayed in the albergo La Piazzetta in Rapallo? Or heard of it? We want to stay in Rapallo for 6 nights in June/July because of its central location, between Genoa and La Spezia, and are looking at this albergo because of its location. Any response will be appreciated. Thanks

I prefer Santa Margherita next door--more to see and do and better boat connections.

We are thinking of Rapallo as a good place for us to base from, as we want to be in "everyday" Italy for this portion of our stay. Make sense?

Rapallo is excellent for trains. Yet, you can also take the bus to S. Margaretha and Portofino, but trains are best for day trips to the villages of Cinque Terre.
The albergo La Piazetta is NOT mentioned in the red Michelin Guide for Italy. One hotel, listed "du bon comfort" is the Hotel Vittoria. It is not too far from the RR station, in the center of town. (via San Fillipo Neri 11; FAX, Italy-0185 - 66250.)

I have stayed several times in Rapallo, in a pension. I liked the city but the pension has closed now

A more upscale hotel (rated "molto confortevole", where I had a reservation a couple of years ago is the EUROTEL, via Aurelia Ponente 22; FAX 50635. It looked good on the brochures. Had to cancel, NWA/KLM lost my luggage for 5 days, so there went the Cinque Terre!

I am a great believer in the Michelin Guide hotel ratings. Never was disappointed yet.
