1. Watching a Madonna paraded through the streets of Palermo from our balcony---music played, crowds gathered, doves were released, and confetti filled the air. To my knowledge we weren't there for any festivals or holidays---but things felt quite festive hard to beat as our introduction to sicilia
2. Cathedral in Monreale--- so striking with the combination of norman/Moorish influence...incredible tile work. Definitely a must see
3. Caravaggio exhibit in Ortygia---not sure if it is a permanent collection or if it was temporary, but probably my favorite art experience in Italy
4. Notto--- Spanish hillside town glows pink at dusk, also the most delicious and creative gelato---we had one that was tomato, onion, and garlic and it was the best gelato I've had in my life---i know the flavors sound strange, but Sicilians apparently can work magic with their dairy

Going to the mountain top town that is my last name.
Staying in Taormina.
Walking around on top of Mt. Etna.
The food.
Traveling with good friends.
Going to the NAS in Sigonella.
Sitting outside on our balcony at night just looking at the stunning view.
