Ramada Grand Hotel Symphony, Prague

Has anyone stayed at this hotel? Would welcome any comments on the hotel itself and its location. I am looking for a hotel within walking distance of most of the attractions. As I am looking at dates in August I would like a hotel with a/c-so any other 3 or 4 star hotels people would recommend?

I doubt the location is one you would like.

It's right on Wenceslas Square, a once-grand space that is rapidly turning into the tackiest spot in Prague.

Only those looking for live sex shows and horse-meat hamburgers prefer it over Prague's many, many charming alternatives.

How about the Grand Hotel Praha on Old town Square (Staromestske namesti).

Note: there are several Grand hotels in Prague -- this one has about 20 rooms and is distinguished by its superlative address.

Fiona:

We are leaving 2 weeks from today for Europe and part of the time will be in Prague. We've never been to Prague, but are staying at the Hotel Maximilian. It's supposed to be in a good location and has gotten many favorable reviews both here and on tripadvisor. I can't tell you from first-hand experience since we've not yet stayed there, but I'd take a look at it. Their website is:

http://www.maximilianhotel.com/

Hope this helps.

Had a look at Maximilian- looks very nice but just a bit too expensive.
I keep reading good reviews about Cloisters Inn and the only thing that stopped this being the number 1 choice was the lack of a/c. However, after a bit more research, temps don't appear to be that bad in the evening anyway. Anybody help either with the hotel location( I don't want to make the same mistake!) or with advice on the need for a/c in August?
