Rainy Dordogne days

Looking ahead at the weather forecast for our ten-day stay in Dordogne (Brantome and Sarlat) it looks like there may be rain almost every day of our visit. Some of it is morning or afternoon showers, but the % chances are good for some precipitation every day.. We have umbrellas and are seasoned travelers, so we know inclement weather is always a possibility. Just wondering if anyone has suggestions for things to do when we can't be outdoors? Already have tickets for Font de Gaume. We will have a car.

Don't worry. You'll find plenty of things to do. And Dordogne is lovely in the rain.

Drive down the Dordogne for some wine tasting - god knows how much the vineyards need your business - it’s been a bad year.

Rest assured, any weather forecast that extends out more than 3 days is totally unreliable. I live 45 minutes from Brantome and 40 minutes from Sarlat and I never rely on the forecast beyond 2 days.

It may rain, it may not. We need the rain, so I hope for that.

At least the heat wave has ended and we have more tolerable temps.

Thanks - we are coming from California, so we won't be too sad to experience a little rain while in Dordogne. Unfortunately we will have wildfire possibilities in the backs of our minds leaving home. It was exactly three years ago we were in the middle of a two-week evacuation and our children who lived nearby lost their home. So - cooler temps and a bit of rain will be fine.

Just figured I'd ask to see if there would be anything special to do indoors.

Caves, castles, maybe Cadouin abbey, and the odd museum.

We had all kinds of cold weather & rain when we stayed in a gite near Domme for a week in late June/early July 1997. However, there was no rain inside the many caves - so that's how we spent our time. In castles also.

Agree with1997, & I'm from California also.

See my attached Dorodgne itinerary.
