RAIL ST PETERBURG to HELSINSKI after cruise

I read there is a new rail station in St Petersburg 6 K from the city center. We need to take the train from St Petersburg to Helsinki after our Viking Cruise Line river trip. Do you know how far the station is from the dock? Would you recommend rail travel in first class for active senior citizens? Any information would be helpful.

The new station is Ladoga Station
(Ladogski, Ladojski, Ladozhski, Ladoshski, Ladozhsky, Ladozhskij) Vokzal
Completed in 2003, this is the newest passenger train terminal in the city.

It is in the Ohta section of the city on the right bank of Neva. Almost across the river from the river port

Address:
71 Zanevski Prospekt (71 Zanevskij Prospekt, Çàíåâñ&eci rc;èé ïðîñïåê&ogr ave;, 71).
Metro (Subway) Ladozhskaia (Ladogskaia, Ladozhskaya, "Ëàäîæñ&e circ;àÿ&quot, on orange line.
The river port subway is located at Metro Proletarskaya, on green line.

Trains to Helsinki: #34 departs 0731, arrives Helsinki 1218; #36 departs 1631, arrives Helsinki 2118.

Rail travel would not be a problem.

For that run 2nd Class would be acceptable (1st class has more room and amenities, but it is a short trip and the 2nd class seats are certainly more roomy than Coach on a plane).

Thank you SO much for your information.

We would have too much luggage for the subway. Approximately how many minutes would it take by taxi?

Do you know if a ferry is possible? Do you know the details about the ferry?

No ferries, a taxi from river port to Ladogski Station, I am only guessing, would be about 300-500Rbl. We paid 500Rbl from Moskovsky Station to river port, I felt it was too much, however I didn't bother negotiating. I only paid 310 with meter to airport from vicinity of Moskovsky Station. Get a driver to use the meter and you will pay less. You might want to use a travel agent to purchase rail tickets, which can be purchased 45 days in advance.
