Quitet place to stay in Dublin area

We are looking for a place to stay (hotel, B&B or guesthouse) in the Dublin area that will allow us to be central to touring the Pale--north, west and south of Dublin--for 4 days. We'll have a 4 year old and 2 year with us, so we prefer a quieter location out of the city center. We don't want to pay more than 35-40 euros pp if possible. Any ideas out there?

Start by looking up the tourist sites for hotels like www.ireland.ie. You probably can get a B&B with 2 rooms or a hotel outside the city with connecting rooms.

Rathmines may be a a pain with small kids i.e. busy bus route. Would you consider a serviced apt?

These may be better and more comfortabvle for small children ans many are near the parks

I agree with Jtune as this town is a nice break and Dublin is easily accessed. I think it is amusing to put quiet and Dublin in the same sentence, though Enjoy your trip, K

I live in Dublin and would suggest guesthouse or b&b's in clontarf area - it is a bayside/residential area just about 3 km from city centre on north side of Dublin and served by a very frequent bus service into town.

Ditto on the Clontarf area. It's a pleasant neighborhood to walk around. We spent 4 nights at Clontarf Castle but that is over your suggested budget. However, I'm sure there are b&b's nearby.
