Hi amp, right before 911 I was in the Florence train station and yes there were lockers. When you stand facing the tracks the lockers were down on your right. But because I have a friend who heads the tourist info bureau for Florence I was told that the lockers filled up real fast. I did not need to use them by the way as her office in the station held our luggage for me.
Now, I have heard (but have not verified) that train station lockers are no longer avaiable thanks to the terrorist threats. I have also been told (buy have not verified) that in at least some train stations that you now hand your luggage over to a train station employee and they hold them for you. And you must be aware of the operating hours for this service as it is not 24/7.
I really need to find out what the situation is. I keep meaning to and then forget.
Hopefully someone else here has experiences with this lately.
