Questions about Pietre di Mare - Monterosso Al Mare - Cinque Terre
Has anyone stayed at this B&B? The rooms look relatively updated, and large by European standards. Would that be accurate?
My husband and I are going to the Cinque Terre for 3 nights at the end of May. I was quoted a rate of 110 Euros per night with breakfast and 100 Euros per night without. Is the breakfast worth it, or should we just grab something elsewhere?
Also, is it in a good location?
Does anyone have any other recommendations in that price range?
Thanks in advance for your help!

Not familiar with Pietre di Mare. I can give you a recommendation that's a little higher than that price range.
We stayed at the Hotel 5terre in the new section of Monterosso. Very clean, quiet, good full breakfast, and helpful friendly staff. I think their rates in high season are about 150 euros/nt. I think when we stayed there, we were the only Americans. Lots of Italians and Germans.

abenedek,
It looks pretty nice to me, check Tripadvisor, it has received good reviews. I love the stones in the rooms. Monterosso is beautiful town, I think you will have a lovely time. May I recommend Miky's for some delicious seafood risotto and grilled seafood.

Thank you for the recommendation, cafegoddess. DH and I LOVE good seafood. Do we need reservations? If so, how far in advance?
I did check the reviews, and while all were positive, there are only 3, so I was hoping to find some other opinions. I believe this is because it is a relatively new B&B.
Anyway, I managed to find a blog that mentioned Pietre di Mare, and she loved it too. So I think I'm going to book it now, before I don't get a room at all!

If you like seafood then Miky's would be the place. Yes, I would recommend making a reservation.
We eat there the whole time we were in Monterosso. My mouth is watering thinking of the seafood risotto, fritto misto and the grilled vegetables. Yum, Yum, Yum!
Have a great time. Cinque Terre is truly amazing.

I've stayed at Pietre di Mare twice and have another stay planned in May 2011. I'll never stay anywhere else in Cinque Terre. The rooms are beautiful and clean. The bed is comfortable. The bathroom is spacious. The AC works great (important in the summer time!). And, Sabrina is the most friendly, charming host we've ever stayed with. The location is outstanding -- tucked away in a small side-street but still just right around the corner from the center of historic Monterroso.
You can probably get a small brioche and cafe for breakfast in town for less than 10-euro. But, what you do get for your 10-euro with Sabrina is worth it. She gives you a voucher for use at one of 2 nearby cafes. You can select a coffee or tea and then get breads, meats, cheeses, etc.
If you haven't already, book with Sabrina! You'll love it.

Bumping this thread as my girlfriend and I are also thinking about booking at Pietre di Mare for the end of May. (Not sure if it's the same time as you, abenedek, but Sabrina quoted us the same prices that you mentioned.) The one question we had was... Does the fact that there is no dedicated balcony make much of a difference? The idea of sitting on a private/shared balcony while taking in the view (as possible at some of the other B&B's) appeals to us. But would this really be missed at Pietre di Mare? Are there enough cafes and such close by that would provide us this 'balcony time'?
Just wondering, because everything else about Pietre di Mare seems perfect.

I wouldn't hesitate in staying there, although I personally haven't had the opportunity to do so. Cinque Terre is such a unique place. The people are great, and it is probably one of the most romantic spots I've ever visited. It may be hard to find reviews of speciifc lodging choices, because they are generally just a couple of rooms or small apartments, and not full-blown B&Bs or hotels. But if someone has had a bad experience somewhere...you are likely to hear about it on one of the forums!

I just saw the 2012 posts, so I figured I'd reply in the event that someone else looks for the future.
We loved our stay at Pietre di Mare in May '11. I wouldn't hesitate to stay there again. Sabrina was gracious and the location was perfect.
We opted not to have breakfast included, since we left VERY early on the last day and wouldn't be able to take advantage of breakfast.
I don't remember any balcony, shared or otherwise. There may have been a shared balcony, but DH and I didn't use it or miss it. We loved walking down to the rock wall very close to the room and enjoying the view from there.
bigempty, is that an STP reference by any chance? HUGE STP fan here
