Questions about Glasgow

I'm looking for a round-trip ticket from Barcelona to Glasgow. Ryanair flies from Girona to Glasgow Prestwick airport. I know Girona is over an hour from Barcelona, but where is Prestwick?

Also, Ryanair isn't so cheap. Going out on Saturday, June 23, it is 64.99 Euro and returning on Sat, July 7, it is 169.99 Euros, which makes the total 277.84. Ouch! Anyone have any other suggestions. Should I book now or wait--maybe the price will go down?

Prestwick is on the west coast down by Troon and Ayr. You can get a train to Glasgow for maybe £5.

As opposed to US$264 all in to GLA via LGW on BA. The change at Gatwick would probably end up consuming about as much time as schlepping to Girona and from PIK in the first place.

wally34949,

Scottish airline Globespan are quoting 281 Euro for your dates but at least you would be flying direct from Barcelona's main airport to Glasgow's main airport. If you're interested, you can find their website at;

http://www.flyglobespan.com/

One other alternative might be to consider flying from Barcelona to Edinburgh, rather than Glasgow. It's an easy enough journey between the two cities & if the Edinburgh route is much cheaper it would be worth it in my opinion.

<<< returning on Sat, July 7, it is 169.99 Euros >>>

Scottish summer school holidays start around that weekend thus the high prices.

I'd be tempted to get the train to Manchester & fly from there - Jet2 are showing a price of £50 for the 7th July

Alternatively try Easyjet from Newcastle or Liverpool
