Best Way from Belfast to Edinburgh

Hello.....Is there a train between Belfast and Edinburgh? Does anyone know how long it might take. I understand there is a ferry but frankly, I do not do well on the water. Any info on getting from Belfast to Edinburgh would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Either ferry (to Troon, Stranraer or Cairnryan, all on West coast of Scotland) and train (to Glasgow, then change trains, and usually station) or fly....

'Is there a train between Belfast and Edinburgh?'

Have a look at the map there and you will find a great big pool of blue water called the Irish Sea!

Fly
Belfast International - Edinburgh

Belfast City airport - Edinburgh

Wow, great prices on Easyjet. Why is it so cheap? Expedia and Kayak show prices over $1,000!

"Why is it so cheap?"

Because it's a low costs airline and they charge extra for things like luggage. Surprised Kayak doesn't show Easyjet as they show Easyjet on other routes. Perhaps you were looking at the wrong Belfast Airport (there's two, International & City)

But Easyjet would be my preferred way between Belfast & Edinburgh - in fact it would be my top 10 ways between the two.

The question is why so expenisve on Expedia and Kayak, given it's hardly a 45 min flight. Answer they are probably routing you via somewhere silly like London, Amsterdamn or Paris. Check out http://www.skyscanner.net/ also

Now I'm seriously confused - I've checked Kayak and they show flights for both Flybe & Easyjet from Belfast. All the prices are what I'd expect (ie under £100. So how have you managed to get prices over $1000?

Definitely fly! I took the ferry, and then a train to Glasgow and another train to Edinburgh and it was a very, very long day. I would fly the next time I am wanting to do that so that I don't waste an entire day.

Who knows how I found the 1000+ airfare. I can't find it again, but I promise it was there. Either way, these answers to the OP really helped me out. Thanks to all!
