Question for recent L'Orangerie visitors

We will be arrivning into Paris on a Tuesday morning in mid-May and are hoping to visit this museum in the afternoon. Can we / should we purchase the tickets ahead of time? If the line will not be tooo long, we don't mind waiting a bit - just wondering what experiences recent visitors have had. Merc1!

Definitely get tickets in advance..long lines every place. Best to go to nearest small museum to where you are staying to purchase whatever museum pass you are interesred in. The Monnaie Museum was the nearest one to us..walked in a purchased it. I Paris now..this was last week..

enjoy.......

We went last October (07) on a Friday afternoon (~3pm). Very short line to get in - waited less than 5 minutes.

We went a few weeks ago and waited about an hour in cold rainy weather.

I would get ticket in advance unless you don't mind lines.

It's a small museum, so the waiting can be longer than the visit...

There was a line when I was there in March, but I zipped right in with my Museum Pass.

BTW, this was one of my favorite things in Paris. After seeing the water lilies, take the time to see the gallery downstairs. Wonderful.

Well I don't think I will get a museum pass as this may be the only museum I visit. So how do you purchase tickets ahead of time? on the internet or by going to FNAC (somthing like that?) Thanks!

You can buy advance tickets online at FNAC, but then you have to go to FNAC to pick them up, so you may as well wait until you get to Paris, then go to FNAC and buy them.

If I go to FNAC to purchase the tickets, do you think I will be able to get them for that day?

Well that is good to know! I had noted the part about groups in the morning, individuals in the afternoon but somehow missed the closed on Tuesday. So now I'm thinking I'll purchase the tickets at FNAC for Wed. after I get to Paris.

We walked in without any lines at 12:30 last week. There were long lines at the Louvre the same day which we bypassed with our Museum Passes. L'Orangerie is a wonderful small museum, a gem.

Hi suec1

We were at L'Orangerie two weeks ago for a 2 o'clock entrance without tickets and waited about 5 minutes. No problem at all. Enjoy, it's one of my favourite art galleries in Paris.
