Pompidou (?) Center, Paris

Have been to Paris a few times but have not as yet been here. I just checked out the website but could not determine if it is covered by the Museum Pass. Not that I mind paying an entrance fee, but would like to avoid the lines. If they do indeed accept the pass, it is the type of place we could breeze through (an hour or two) and then determine if we should set aside more time on our next trip? Any feedback would be appreciated.

Yes, it is covered by the museum pass (except for any special exhibit, I suppose). Sure, you could see what you want in a couple hours and leave, I often do as I don't like spending too long in an art museum and a lot of the works in there I don't care for that much. I think there are two main floors (which aren't nearly as big as the Louvre), but I could be remembering wrong. The lines there aren't usually that bad, actually -- last Bastille Day, it was open and I didn't have a pass so I went there instead of the Louvre because there wasn't that long a line (maybe a 20 minute wait, but that was a major holiday).

I visited this museum at about 5 pm, and there was no line at all. The museum is open until 10 pm daily except Tuesdays. If you visit late in the day, the museum has been emptied of most of the tour groups and school kids on field trips.

To my surprise, this museum was one of the most interesting parts of my visit to Paris, not just because of the art, but also for the architecture and views from the outdoor escalator.

If you are there during nice weather, the museum's roof has an outdoor cafe with great views.

For current museum hours, see this Web site:

My wife and I nicknamed the Pompidou the Pompous Doo, if that tells you anything. Still, it's worth a one time visit.

We loved the Pompidou! Number 3 on our list of museums after Louvre and Orsay. It's different from all the other "famous" artwork you spend time looking at in other museums. Definately worth a visit. Lines weren't long at the end of the day.

Loved the Pompideau Center. Make sure to spend some time checking out the "Homage to Stravinsky" Fountain nearby. It has playful sculptures by two well-known artists,Yves Tanguy and Nicki de St. Phal. Great for photos. The Cafe on the Plaza has great omeletes.
