Question About Lyon Train Stations

I have a reservation for the TGV from CGD to Lyon Part-Dieu. I couldn't find Perrache in the station list (which is closer to my hotel) when I made the reservation, and I'm wondering if I can just stay on the train to Perrache or must I get off at Part-Dieu? It's the 5:04 PM train, if that makes a difference. Thanks.

For your 5:04p train, next stop after Lyon Part Dieu is Valence, 35 minutes and many km away.

There is regional train that goes between the two stations every few minutes, according to the timetable.

If your train doesn't go to Perrache just jump off and get on the next one that does.

Sit on the right side of the train. Just as you cross the first river before the station you'll have the most amazing view.

Thank you so much. I would have been in real trouble. Can you tell me where to find the Regional Train schedule?
Another question if you have a minute-- I will have a medium sized piece of wheeled luggage and a carry-on bag. Do I keep these with me in the train compartment or are they checked?
Thanks again.

You haul your own luggage on trains, and lift it about 6' onto the luggage rack.

Regional train schedule? To where? In Lyon stations get schedules at Accuiel (sp?) office.

Between the Lyon stations there is an old local which runs frequently. Last year I took it from Part-Dieu to Perrache but used a taxi to get back to Part-Dieu. Taxi cost €10.

From my notes:
There was no TP in a first class TGV car toilet. BYO.
Good lunch of moules at Brasserie 1900 for €16 including wine. rue Victor Hugo.
Look for escalators in the train stations so you don't have to carry your luggage up the stairs.

I recall two other options
- there is a luggage storage space on the car where you can leave your luggage. We looped a tie from the bag around a pole for security but I think it was unnecessary
- there is space between the rear facing and front facing seats where you can put a bag
We were concerned about luggage storage but it was no problem. Great trains!

Schnitzel, I had to wait for about 90 minutes one time in Lyon Part-Dieu. It was one of a handful of places in France where I felt I needed to watch my luggage very carefully.

Thanks everyone.

I may just take a cab to the hotel from Part-Dieu. I'm staying at La Residence on 18 Rue Victor Hugo. Any idea what a cab might cost?

Thanks. I'm relying solely on the advice from the nice people on this web site to get me to France and back, going solo, without a major international incident. So far, so good...

Hi,
You can also take the tram from Part-Dieu station to Perrache. But given that you will be carrying luggage, I agree that a taxi would be the easiest/quickest option.
