Question about justairports

Hi to all who have traveled from Heathrow to their London hotels using the above service. I'm working on such transport and justairports said they charge a parking fee when they pick up. Since one would have no power over late flights and getting through customs, I'd be concerned about this unknown charge.

Any experience with this? I know I've read good things about justairports. Thanks!

PS--Has anyone ever used a private driver they could recommend?

Please please please just answer the questions I've posed and don't tell me about other methods of getting there. I promise I've googled them already. I'm always sleep-deprived and disoriented after long flights so appreciate going door to door and spending a bit more to do so.

I used Just Airports with a group five years ago at Gatwick, and we didn't have any big nasty surprises. Not exactly your question, but might provide a bit of reassurance till others with more specific/recent experience chime in.

Stick withe Justairports. When you book w/ them you provide your flight number. The driver can monitor arrivals so IF the flight is greatly delayed they will know it and not arrive until shortly before you are expected to exit the Arrivals Hall. They aren't going to park at LHR for 2 extra hours just because your flight is late . . . that would lose them money even w/ the parking they charge.

(another good car service is Ray Skinner at http://www.london-transfers.com - but just airports is the larger operation and is very reliable)

I have used JustAirports as well and found them prompt and reliable, no nasty surprises and I had pounds with me so I could pay cash.

I used Ray Skinner once a few years ago and he was great, however, I recommended him to a friend who booked him only to arrive at Heathrow with her husband and three children..to a no-show Ray. She never did get an explanation, or any response at all to her query as to why they were left in the lurch, so I can't really recommend him.

Exactly what I needed to know. Thanks jent, janis and raincity. Is a credit card payment an option with JustAirports in person, raincitygirl?

What about Green Tomato Cars? Anyone used them? Thanks again.

If you pay by card I think you need to call for a quote and pay over the phone...but I haven't done it myself.

Hubby uses Green Tomato for work. They are cheaper than Addison Lee but way more expensive than justairports in his experience. They also drive Prius only cars but are equipped with wifi. Justairports have nicer cars if that matters...

TDudette, I thought their website said cash only so I have always paid in cash but you can try what jamikins suggested.
The cars I rode in were all Mercedes sedans and very clean.
Have a great time!

Cash payment to the driver is cheaper . But prepayment by credit card is also possible. Only a small surcharge is tacked on . . .

I used them more than a dozen times and never incurred the parking charge. I believe that is because as described above they will monitor your flight. So it's only if there is some delay through immigration and customs that you would need to work about parking charge.

We just used Justairports a few days ago.

You can pay with credit card (have to arrange in advance) but they said it would cost about 25% more so we just found an atm at the airport to pay with cash.

We were quoted £46 plus car park charges for pick up at LHR and it came to just over £50... I think we just made it £55. Our plane arrived on time (early, I think) and we got through Immigration pretty quickly as we had Fast Track passes.

For some reason we were quoted only £40 for the return trip.

I thought it was worth it just to not have to keep watching and fretting over the meter as we have too much luggage to do public transport.

Tripywife007, if your flight was early, why would you incur a parking charge? Guess there'd be no parking charge applicable on the return trip--they'd just be dropping you off.

Good to read, janisj and laurie_ann.

The parking charge is became the driver has to leave the vehicle somewhere while in the arrivals hall to meet you.

Also have used justairports on several occasions and they do monitor status of flight and go to airport accordingly so not likely you will be hit with a large parking charge. To pay by cc you do need to call, cannot do online. If not willing to do that, easy enough to get local currency from ATM at LHR in arrivals.

Used Green Tomatoes one time, arranged through the apartment agency (Ivy Lettings) used for that trip. Nice new Prius with WiFi. Don't remember the exact fare, may have been a couple euro more than justairports but not excessive.

Hi TDudette: What Seamus said. The driver meets you at arrivals holding a sign with your name. They do just drop you off for the return trip.
