Queens Day in A'dam

Having just spent our first Queens Day celebration in A'dam, I am just curious of others reactions to the day and it's customs.Did y'all have fun?

Overcrowded, crushing, tacky, smelly drunks, shocking sights, rubbish to our ankles, giant condoms worn as headgear, no way to summon a taxi, lewd acting fools surrounded us, cops dancing with drag queens, and more. If you can't tell, we loved every minute.

bummed I missed it...I am leaving for there in six days though...I will have to invent my own Queen's Day, or just party a lot!

Unfortunately, my first trip to Amsterdam was on Queen's Day and my first impression was one of complete disgust! The streets and canals were filthy and the city reeked of piss and garbage.
If I ever go back, it will definitely NOT be on Queen's Day.

I was there. I think stuff like that is more fun if you have a group of friends and are "regulars" of certain bars, etc, to hang out at or on someone's boat or house. For outsiders and tourists, it's not so much fun.
