Quality Inn Kensington
My wife and I are booked into the Quality Inn South Kensington for 8 days in early June. I did some searching and found only one reference, back in 2000 when it changed from Oki to Quality.

Has anyone stayed there recently or have any info about it that I should know about?

Thanks in advance!

We have reservations there starting Saturday for 4 nights. I found the same reference that you did. I hope it isn't too terrible. Will let you know when we get back on May 28. When I did a search on Google I found that a university has negotiated rates there for their staff. I hope that is a good sign!

If possible, change your reservation. Things may have changed since I was there, but it was a HUGE disappointment for my family.

I stayed there in March 2000, when it was switching from the OKI to the Quality Inn. It didn't look anything like how it was pictured in the website. The staff is very nice and helpful, though. However, the building was not kept in good condition and the rooms were INCREDIBLY small. You can do better with your vacation funds.

I just got back from London and stayed there for 10 days.

The Good: Great Location and felt very safe walking the area.Tube stations are 3 and 7 minute walks. Many destinations (Harrods, Westminster Abbey, Hyde Park, etc. etc,) are short tube rides away. Continental breakfast was served each morning and was part of the room charge and was good. A couple of grocery stores were nearby and a hospital right down the street.

The Bad - The rooms are still incredibly small.

The Ugly - There was some sort of sewer problem going on while we were there and often the bathroom did not have a pleasant aroma from the plumbing. Travel candles handled the chore nicely. Do not know what was going on with that.

We were out from 7 in the morning until 10 at night so we were not in the room that often. We were satisified with our stay as it suited our needs. Yours may be different. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the feedback! I can handle incredibly small -- We've been to some 2-stars in Paris and other European cities. If there's room to stand between the bed and the wall then it's not so bad ....

We do tend to travel like Jason, that is, get up early, leave and tour/enjoy/sight see, then come back in time to go to bed; so a big American style room isn't a necessity.

I'm anxious to hear from Carla about the plumbing.

Thanks again,
Matt

Even if you say beforehand that you'll only use your hotel room for sleeping, I guarantee you that when you actually have to face a cramped, smelly room for several nights, it will get to you. It is better to pay a little more and do more research as to any better accomodations now. In that way you will have a more comfortable vacation, everyone will not be stressed, and you will not end up looking desperately for another hotel. But if you insist that a small, cramped room is okay, then go for it. But if the plumbing is bad, don't-possible health hazard(?).
