Pyrenees in March/Mallorca

We will be in BCN from March 7-10 and then we are hoping to drive up to the Pyrenees for a few days....

1) Are the Pyrenees enjoyable in early March if we are not skiing? Can you hike? Are the roads navigable by car? We are having a hard time getting info on how thick the snowfall is that time of year.

2) What town should we go to if we only have 2 days/2 nights? I guess preferably one with less snowfall, etc that time of year.

3) would Mallorca be a better option for hiking/enjoying the mountain beauty?

You might enjoy the area around La Seu d'Urgell in early March. There should be snow on the mountains and in the sky areas, but the main highway will be open. You follow the C-16 north into the Cerdanya. The Parador in La Seu makes an excellent base for a couple of days, but there are a few other good options in the valley.

Mallorca is always nice. For more information, see:

Maybe you already know this, but i think either plan can't be booked in advance if you are depending on nice weather to enjoy outdoor activities or have a stress free drive or travel plan. I doubt you will have any trouble booking last minute in the first weeks of March -- although I don't know if there are big festivals in these places at that time, so you might check that.

But my inclination would be to have a plan A, a plan B, and a plan C and wait until you are in Barcelona and can look at short term weather forecasts to decide where it is you are going.
