Provence - Grignan

I think I oringally posted this in the worng area, so I'll try again.

Anyone stay at La Demeure Du Chateau in Grignan? It seems to be built into the wall of the city and either a castle, or much like one. We're thinking of staying there and can't seem to fine even one review. I've researched on these boards and found out great things about the town itself and the surrounding area (thank you, all!).

Also wondering if it's too much to travel from Aix-en-Provence by car to Grignan in one day, if we go straight through. We'll be spending the night in Grignan and via Michelin says it's roughly a 1-1/2 hrs. drive. I'm thinking it's probably worth the drive, since we'll be staying overnight and it looks like one of those out of the way, lesser-traveled destinations, which we really love. How are the roads up there?

Thanks so much,

Annie

Sorry, don't know the hotel but you can certainly drive there from Aix in a day. Local roads are fine. To do it in that time you would have to stay on the autoroute and it still sounds a bit quick to me - I would allow an extra hour. If you have all day however you would be better to get off the autoroute and see some of the countryside - maybe visit Vaison-la Romaine and the wine villages around the Dentelles de Montmirail.

I'm not familiar with that hotel either, but I love Grignan and drive up whenever I can make up an excuse. The Château de Grignan is one of my favorites.
The drive time from Aix is about right, if you take the highway (A8 out of Aix to the A7 north) - about 1 1/2 to 1 3/4 hours.

Are you specifically looking for reviews and personal experience? Because googling La Demeure du Chateau Grignan brings up 26,000 entries!

PBProvence and I visited Grignan a few years ago, and I loved it (though we practically got blown off the ramparts by the mistral). The town is charming, too.

StCirq,

How did you find so many Google entries? When I googled the name, I only got four! Are you sure it's the same one, "La Demeure Du Chateau Grignan"?

Thanks to everyone for posting so quickly, and giving me your experiences about Grignan, including driving conditions and time from Aix. Just wish someone knew about this particular guest house, but I think I'm just gonna wing it, it looks lovely!

Best,

Annie

Well of course not all 26,000 are directly relevant, but there's plenty of information there!

Ah, it's the old "use the quotes/don't use the quotes" Google dilemma! Thanks for clarifying that ;-)
