Provence Accommodation: La Bastide Saint Christophe

Do any of the Provence experts out there know anything about La Bastide Saint Christophe in Le Bar Sur Loup?
We are considering this place for later this summer, but would like a personal recommendation if possible. Also, is this a good location? We don't have a list of things or places we must see, we are just looking for a relaxing week where we can potter around, visit other villages. Are there good restaurants in the immediate vicinity? Any help is appreciated.

yaletown. Bar Sur Loup is a lovely medieval village that overlooks the river valley. We stayed near by in Tourette sur Loup. You can visit many villages from Bar. Don't know the Bastide but it looks nice.

The area is very beautiful, but the roads are quite curvy and narrow in that area and you will have a bit of a drive to get to the areas closer to the sea.

This woman rented a house there.
She mentions the perché village of Gourdon, where you must visit
dining: Auberge de Madone
in Bar lunch at L'Amirel.

cigalechanta thank you for the info and link to the review. I checked it out, but that house is too big for us. Le Bar sounds as though it will suit us very well and La Bastide Saint Christophe looks very nice, butI am a little worried that I cannot find any personal reviews. I have tried several travel sites, and google.

Cigalechanta you are so helpful! We do want a place with a pool and two bedrooms, so the sweet one you found is too small.

Would you stay at a place that has no reviews? Do you think it is odd? Or am I just being paranoid?

On slowtrav, everyone seemed to encourage someone asking about it, to go ahead. The views are wonderful. You can always ask for references from previous renters?

Just over the hill near St-Paul-de-Vence is a newish hotel getting excellent reviews--La Bastide St-Pierre. Also in that area is one of our favorites, Le Hameau. Both are excellent locations for sightseeeing in the region.

My wife and I have been coming to Europe every summer for the last ten plus years and La Bastide Saint Christophe is one of our best experiences, that's why we did it again!
The location was excellent up in the hills in Bar sur Loup off the coast where it was peaceful, friendly, quaint, clean, nice restaurants within walking distance. Just a charming little town, with easy access to all that the Cote d' Azur has to offer.
But what made it special was our apartment and it's surrounding grounds. You may feel with having 5 rentals within the building that privacy may be questionable.
Not the case! The way it is laid out, you hardly know others are there. And if you do bump into another of the guests its like looking into a mirror, they are just as relaxed and feeling as good as you.
We had the Garden Apt. and I have to say it wasn't just good, it was great! Everything that you would need was provided, from a well equiped kitchen, two lovely bedrooms, (slept like babies - good mattresses and night air) with baths, your own private grill for cooking out, and not one but two private places to chose to eat outside. And to boot, Art the owner seems to be always doing something to enhance the place.
Did I mention the pool? It was basically two terraces down from the house, providing all the privacy you could ever desire. The setting was perfect, so much so that if it weren't for my wife getting water logged, she would have never come out of the water.
Finally, Art, Milly, their two lovely daughters, and "Flash" (the rabbit) and a little guinea pig, put the icing on the cake as to making you feel at home, giving you good suggestions on where to go, what to do. They really want you to enjoy yourselves.

Bottom line: Does it sound like we would continue going there?
Go and see for yourself as to what my answer would be.

We're travelling thru Europe and stayed at La Bastide Saint Christophe this late summer.
Found this review sleeping in Fodor's and thought I'd give it some new life !

Well ... La Bastide remains a wonderful place to stay. We rented the lower garden apartment and it was spotlessly clean, unlike other places we've stayed.
There are great views to be had from the balcony and garden.
We divided the days between sightseeing and just lazing by the pool or playing "boules" with other guests in the garden.

The house is an ideal location to visit the coastal towns of Monaco, Nice, Antibes, Cannes. Although we went to St Tropes, it was just slightly too far for us.

Then of course inland you have Grasse, Tourettes, Gourdon, Saint Paul de Vence within a short drive.

You can hardly go wrong eating out in France, especially inland away from the overcrowded coast. In the village Le bar sur loup there are several good restaurants to enjoy like the Ecoles des filles and the Jarreree.

So finally, highly recommended and a great place to stay and enjoy the local area.

The Auberge de la Madonne is in Peillon, not Gourdon. Note that the château in Gourdon is now closed, and it's a long drive out and back. I'd substitute St-Paul-de-Vence and Eze-village.

I've stayed several times at the Colombre d'Or in St-Paul-de-Vence for a day or two. My late husband and I didn't give anniversary or birthday presents to eachother, instead got to pick a place we would like for one or two days. I always picked the Colobre d'Or and the Crillon le Brave
