Am asking for your experience using private guides from either Tours By Locals (a Canadian company) or with Private Ephesus Tours (a Turkish company), both of which we are considering for a day docked in Kusadasi. Plan on about a 6-hr tour and yes, we have but 1 day here! Thanks-

I used Tours by Locals for Istanbul, but not for Ephesus. I was very happy with my guide from Tours by Locals.

Make sure you tell beforehand that you do not wish for carpet, leather, jewellery store visits included in the tour.

You can actually take a taxi to top entrance of Ephesus, hire one of the professional guides and walk down to take another taxi or the same one back or to Selcuk for the museum, the mosque and St John's basilica before you get back.

Hat needed against sun, water against dehydration, dry cat food for the cats (and some of your water), sunscreen on all exposed areas of your skin.
