Private Accommodation Suggestions in Dubrovnik

My brother and his wife are going to be in Dubrovnik for two nights in September, and they're looking for recommendations for private accommodations (sobe) within the old town. They want their own bathroom, stairs are fine, etc.
Thanks for the help!

we went to the tourist bureau in the main street of the old town
they found us a great little apartment
owned by the pizza owners ivanka and her husband
ivanka is a joy
true european hospitality
did our washing and folded it - didnt want to take a cent from us
had the fridge stocked with essentials just to get us through a few breakfasts
insisted we eat at the pizzeria - yum
and wouldnt take money
trusting honest hospitable and cheerful - ivanka really added to the dubrovnik experience
cost us only 75 aud a night

Your brother and his wife can look at www.tripadvisor.com. Under Dubrovnik hotels, click on the tabs for B&Bs/Inns and Specialty Lodging. There are lots of rooms and apartments listed there, with reviews.

If you want to book in advance, there are lots of websites that offer private apartments. www.dubrovnikapartmentsource.com has a good range of apartments and instant booking online. The Old Town is very nice, but can get a bit noisy. You may also want to consider staying just outside the Old Town in the Ploce or Pile neighborhoods. Apartments there sometimes have great views and are a bit cheaper than in the Old Town.

our apartment wasnt noisy at all and we were there for three nights
there are lots of little streets set back from the main drag

i think staying in the old towns is great
you can always see something when out for an evening stroll
as for prices

the places outside the old town in dubrovnik were charging the same - thought that was wicked considering they had very little to offer in the way of charm and atmosphere

we checked quite a few before we got into the old town- thinking old town would be dear
we were pleasantly surprised
