Priceline or Expedia for Hotels?
I am trying to get some good deals on hotels in London...1 star is fine for me, as long as I have my own bathroom, am near the local tube, and not in Brixton (not hating on Brixton, but all my friends from there told me not to go to a hotel there).
If I use priceline, can I name my price for the hotel I CHOOSE, or one they choose for me? I am worried they may choose a hotel I dislike greatly.
Thanks for all of your help!!

You don't choose your hotel. However, you can have a pretty good idea that it will be one of several, although it's always possible a new one will show up.
My opinion is that any unknown 4* hotel in a central zone is going to be better than a 1* that I personally identify. Given that you state you aren't picky, I think it's highly unlikely any of Priceline's 4* hotels would be distasteful to you.

Priceline is amazing for London (not so good everywhere but for London it is terrific)
Be sure to study biddingfortravel.com. As WillTravel says - ANY London 4 star will be better than ANY 1 star - Brixton or not. And when you figure the average semi nasty tourist class 1 or 2 star place will run £35 - £50 per night and a 4 star through PL will run $65-$80 (yes, dollars) it's a no brainer.

also read up at www.betterbidding.com.
do your homework. don't ask ANY questions at biddingfortravel before doing so.. you'll get your head chopped off. they have spent a LOT of time and effort explaining everything on their website.. so most questions should be answered . You must read all they suggest or you will not be as successful as you could be.
no sense in overbidding.

I agree. Use Priceline for London. You can specify the area you'd like and the star rating of the hotel and then the price you are willing to pay.
I can recommend the Thistle Marble Arch, which I just stayed at for $60 (plus tax) per night from Priceline. I recently posted a review of my stay there, if you are interested. According to biddingfortravel, it seemed to be very likely that a certain sort of bid would end up with that hotel, so I was fairly certain that's what I would get.

If you haven't already booked your airline tickets, check out the Priceline packages for London. You can pick the hotel and (usually) your flights. I've had fantastic luck with the packages.
I've also had wonderful luck with Priceline for hotels only - but it is essential do study biddingfortravel.com and do your homework.
