If you do make it to Iffeldorf -- and you like animals -- one place you should visit is the Gut Aiderbichl sanctuary.

If you want to see some more typical baroque bavarian towns you could extend the Landshut trip to an 2 day excursion along the Danube, including (after Landshut) Straubing, Deggendorf, and Passau. Passau is beautiful both with regard to its baroque buildings and its well-situated location on the confluence of Danube and Inn river. You could round off your trip with a 2hs (ore more) mini cruising on the Danube (time tables at www.donauschiffahrt.de). The tour can be made by train, good staring points being Munich or Regensburg.
