Wes is one of the dearest, most helpful people on this site over the years I've used it to plan travel. I send my prayers to he and his family. He really is one of the good guys in this world. It doesn't seem right when we have to lose them...

Diane W

Dear Wes, (I hope Nuby will read these messages to you) I have such fond memories of our Atlanta GTG on Sept. 9, 2001, a much more carefree time, when all we spoke of was travel. So much has changed since then but our bonds are still very strong. Please know that our thoughts and prayers are with you and we will never find sufficient words to thank you for all of your help. When I read the sad news, I did a search of "Wes Fowler" posts on this site. Just as I had remembered, Wes always had kindly, detailed and incredibly helpful advice to fellow travelers. I couldn't help but notice the gentle tone and the decency, no matter how mundane the question or how frequently others of us had posted the same question hours, days or weeks/months before.

Wes, you are a true gentleman. You are, and always will be, much loved. Prayers to you and your wife.

Thank you Wes for your many helpful hints and suggestions. Some of our favorite holiday memories were made when we stopped at out of the way places you recommended. Some of our favorite meals came at places we tried from the many lists you had compiled and shared with fellow travelers. In these days of rudeness, crudeness and needless "flame wars" I will always appreciate your kindness to total strangers (myself included) and your willingness to give of your time so that our Holidays could be just that much more special.

the turnip

And my prayers with the people who are struggling with illness in their own families who are generous enough to put that to the side for the moment to add prayer & support for Wes & his family.

I too add my prayers and wishes for a miracle to all the others above. Wes has helped me plan many trips. His ideas have been printed out and saved by many. He is a generous, polite man. May God watch over Wes and his family and ease their suffering.

Well, Wes, if anyone is passing this thread along to you, I want to say that I have reread your post in your thread: "Tourists/Travelers/Strangers in a Strange Land - what are we?" many times now.

I wish you easy travels now, wherever they may take you.

My prayers are with Wes and his family and friends. Responses to his always-intriguing questions have illuminated Europe in ways that I never knew existed.

I, too, am saddened to hear of Wes's condition. My prayers are with him and his family. I have so enjoyed reading his advice here on the board. May this verse be a comfort to you. Psalm 46:1--God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.
