It's pretty much an all day train trip with a connection unless you do the 9 hour night train or the one direct one at 2PM or so. It didn't seem like it was all that far, but the train poked along with a lot of starting and stopping especially at the border. It's the only time I've been on a train that was considerably more than a couple minutes late. But my connecting train was also late.
Krakow's wonderful and certainly worth the trip. But I'm glad I was able to fly out of Krakow for my return home. If there's a discount airline between the two, I'd sure do that.

thanks Jeff.. after reading your reply, i checked flights.. seems its a 1hr15min flight. that sounds much better. Thank you for train info. I will be in Krakow for 2-3 weeks this summer and my son will be in Prague for 3 months... i thought i'd go visit him. can't wait!
