I have 2 weeks vacation in JANUARY and i m kind of confused where to spend it , Prague or Rome??????

Rome, for every reason you can possibly think of - architecture and ancient sites, churches, museums and galleries, food, weather, wine, people, convenient daytrips, shopping.

There is no comparison at all

Rome will be a lot more enjoyable than Prague in the cold month of January

isn't will be snowing in Rome in January ??? or at least raining ...,,, and i just heard a rumor that the food in Prague is more Mouth-watering then Rome ????? ,,i don't know ... what u think ..

It snows in Prague. It depends on your taste but Italian food is fabulous. I love both Prague and Rome but I think two weeks in Prague is too long. I just spent 4 days there and felt it was enough.

Definitely Rome - there is much more to do there.

If you were to combine Prague with other places in the Czech Republic or with Krakow or Vienna then that would be a good choice. But I think you will be bored staying in Prague for 2 weeks.

The food in the Czech Republic is very good but it is heavy northern cooking. Lots of pork dishes and dumplings and potatoes. Italian cooking is lighter. Both cuisines are very good.

Along the same lines of what has already been said:

You can see most everything worth seeing in Prague in a week.

You need a month to see most everything worth seeing in Rome.

Plus the weather will be nicer.

I agree with staying in Rome. There are many day trips you can take, like to Naples, Pompei (sp?), and Tuscany. Prague is way too cold in January.

Fist of all Prague is on the central european plain - which means a true winter with cold and probably a decent amount of snow. I love the city and think it's wonderful even in the winter - but in 2 weeks you would want to add at lest another city (Budapest? Vienn?). Muc of the food is good, some not so much. And it is central european - heavy on game, pork (esp in the winter)wild birds etc.

Rome will have milder weather - yes you will get rain but snow is rare. There is much more to see and do - but I would still do a couple of day trips or spend 3/4 days in another city. I havenever had a bad meal in Rome and IMHO overall, the food is better then the Czech Republic. (Caveat: you MUST avoid places with menus in 14 languages or pictures of the food - or it will be awful in any country.)

In either country you will need a good menu reader to help you order.

Much as I love Prague in Jan I would go to Rome.

I also vote for Rome! I spent two weeks there this past December and then two years before that around another two weeks in December. The weather was fantastic! Hardly any rain and a couple of the days I didn't even wear a coat. The food is something I still dream about and can't wait to go back for...nothing compares to it!
