Prague or Frankfurt?

We are flying home from Frankfurt in July after 10 days in Scotland (that's where my FF miles could get us home from). So we are spending a few days in Prague. We fly into Prague the night of July 26th and I've thought we should just fly to Frankfurt the day of our flight on the 30th however my BF thinks that we should go to Frankfurt for a couple of days before flying home. That would only give us 48 hours in Prague.

As far as things to do and things to see would our extra 1.5 days be better spent seeing sites in and around Prague (keeping in mind we will be there for at least 2 days prior) or Frankfurt?

I vote for Prague. When going to Germany, most people think of Munich or Berlin. If you like tall buildings, then go to Frankfurt, otherwise, stay in Prague. IMO. Prague has a lot to see. Probably cheaper, too.

Make that "3" for Prague. There really is no choice in this matter. Trust us!

Spend the entire time in Prague. I have spent 6 full days in Prague and still have not experienced all that there is to see and do.

If you don't have family in Frankfurt, then Prague.

I think your boyfriend is right. 48 hours in Prague gives you a good feel for the city. But if you can do two days in each area, all the better. Only thing is... don't go into Frankfurt proper. Land at FRA, take a train up the Rhine Valley, stay two nights there. Bacharach, St. Goar, or Boppard are attractive villages. Tour a castle, taste some wine, relax for the flight home in a truly scenic area (the whole valley is a recent addition to the UNESCO World Heritage list.) You can catch a direct train from Bacharach to FRA if you have a morning departure. See Bavaria Ben's comments on Bacharach and getting to FRA on this page:

We spent 6 days in Prague last April, and loved every minute of it. You will never regret spending your time in Prague.

So Prague wins it sounds like. I'll be flying Lufthansa in and out of Prague and home from Frankfurt. However my actual ticket home is direct from Frankfurt to Dulles so the Prague ticket will be a different ticket. Has anybody done that into Frankfurt? Will we have to get our bags and recheck in or will Lufthansa allow us to check in straight through from Prague? (since it will be same airline but different ticket number).
