Prague Hotel - Stare Mesto or Mala Strana?

Hi, We will be going to Prague for 5 days in September. Would like advice on which neighborhood to stay in. We like to be within walking distance from old sites and restaurants. We are considering the Marriott or the Intercontinental in Prague.
What do you think?
Thx.
Evelyn

I don't know of those hotels specifically, but I sateyd right in the Old Town square when I went to Prague. It is an easy city to navigate, so I gues I would stay wherever you get the best deal. I definitely like the charm of the old town though.

I don't think you'd go wrong with either hotel. Both are excellent hotels in great locations.

Loved Prague... have a great trip!

My husband and I were in Prague in sept 07, and we stayed in Stare Mesto. I do not know much of either of the hotels you mentioned, as we rented a residence just off of Old town square and found the location perfect. I liked the location on this side of the river. The Jewish museum in Prague, the old Cemetery, & Old-New Synagogue are on this side, as is the Astronomical Clock, St Agnes Monastery and more. And it was just far enough from the masses of people around the Charles Bridge. You will find that if you have even moderate fitness, nothing in Prague is too far to walk to. You are at the charles bridge from anywhere in no time and the castle is just up the hill. 5 days will be great. There are so many "cant miss" things in Prague, and no bad choices. It is my favorite european city. Have a wonderful time.

Both of these hotels are located in Stare Mesto, the Intercontinental is in the Jewish Quarter and the Marriott is not far from the Municpal House.

I only walked into Marriott, liked the location - a few minutes from the wonderful Municipal Hose .
Mala Strana did not do much for me at night.
