Positano Hotels

Does anyone have some advice about the two hotels that we made reservations at in mid- september? The first one is the Marincanto, and the second is the the Hotel Villa La Tartana? The Marincanto is 220 Euros for a Jr. Suite with a balcony w/jacuzzi tusea view). The Villa La Tartana room is a double with a balcony and view of the sea for 150 Euros a night.I have read good reviews of both properties. Any Advice would be appreciated!!! Also, We have a 2:40 pm flight from Rome on the last day of our stay in Positano, can we make it to the airport in time for the flight??? or should we stay closer to Rome?

Hi, did this thread cover time allowed to get to Rome airport? This is a question I've been wondering. Good luck on your trip

It's doable. You'll need get up early, get a car to drive you to the Naples train station (my recommendation - takes about an hour), catch a train to the Rome Termini (about 2.5 hours), then catch another train to the airport (30 minutes). Factor in walking/wait times at both train stations (2 hours to be safe). If you don't want to get up that early, I suggest going on to Rome the day before and staying in the city that last night.

Thank you for the suggestion, but we have a rental car..I am still thinking of spending the last night near Rome. If we don't, it seems like an adventure to turn in the rental car and make the flight on time.

I wouldnt give up my last night on Amalfi Coast just to schlep back to Rome for the night.

Get up nice and early and get on the road, turn in your rental car at the airport about three hours later and that's that.

I do that every year, but not always from the Coast, I still don't see why people advise others to stay in Rome the last night - except when they have very early flights and then they should stay at the airport.

IMHO

I agree - stay in Positano. If you've got a car, you have plenty of time to get to the airport in Rome and turn in the car in time for your flight.

Thanks for your advice (nocinonut and Parker)!!! I thought it was possible since we are leaving on a Sunday morning from Positano. I was estimating 3 hours to the airport, with another hour to drop off the rental car. I believe if we are on the road by 8:00 am we should be ok to make a 2:40pm flight.
