Portugal/Costa delSol

In August, a group of us are going to Portugal and then drive down the coast to Spain-Costa delSol. I have been pricing airfare into Lisbon and out of Malaga but I am finding the prices to be extremely high, so I am back to the drawing board. I have found good rates in and out of Madrid, but then I don't know what would be the best way to get to Lisbon - train, car, bus, and then same guestion on how to get back to Madrid once in Costa delSol. Any suggestions? Also, once we are in Portugal and on our way to Spain, would it be best to drop our car off at the boarder and take a train or bus into Spain and then rent a car again?

Why ever would you want to use 2 different cars for the same trip? Are you afraid of dop -off charges. We ave done several trip through spain and Portugal and never been charge a drop off fee from one to the other. I'm not sure where you're coming from or how high the air fares are - but some people save money by flying into/out of London and taking low cost tourist air lines from there to Spain/Portugal.

Hey - thanks for the critisim - just what I was looking for. You ask why would I ever want to use 2 different cars - I didn't say that I was going to use 2 different cars, I just asked a question. And no, I am "afraid" of drop off charges - I don't think the drop off charges will "kill" me. Thanks about the flying into London suggestion - I have been thinking about that.

I would ask yourself how much extra money in airfare your time is worth. Even if you take the cheaper flights in and out of Madrid, it will still cost to get to Lisbon. In addition, it will take time. Unless you have no time contraints on your vacation, maybe the more expensive flights might be worth it?? Only you can decide that depending upon your circumstances.
