Porto or Guimarães?

Porto or Guimarães?
We've only one day as it will be a cruise ship stop. We have several excursion choices. We can't do both in one day. Which one should we do? Porto or Guimarães?

Guimaraes is smaller with less to experience. It is however of great historical importance since it is the birthplace of Portugal.
Guimaraes is about 1hour east of Porto and that's time you could use in Porto. Assuming you're docking in Porto.

I would choose Porto because it has more to see and experience.
Guimaraes is smaller with less to experience. It is however of great historical importance since it is the birthplace of Portugal.
Guimaraes is about 1hour east of Porto and that's time you could use in Porto. Assuming you're docking in Porto.
