Please recommend Berlin hotel

We have only a few days in Berlin and I would like to be as close to the sites we plan to visit as possible. It appears that the Mitte district would be a good location. Can only pay $150 US dollars max a night. Need a room for three. I do not need frills - just a clean. safe location with a comfortable bed - also need a non-smoking room. All suggestions appreciated. Thank you very much.

you might want to look at discount sites such as booking.com; laterooms.com; venere.com among others.

Be aware that Berlin has an excellent and VERY extensive public transport system.

I have over the past several visits based myself in Potsdamer Platz but believe me, you do NOT have to "be in Mitte" to get to the major sites especially with a budget such as your own.

why not check out Air B&B or VRBO and stay in an apt.? You can usually find places by areas in each city.

We've been very happy with the Maritim near Friedrichstrasse Station on several occasions. Lovely hotel, great pool, easy walking to Brandenberg Gate and most other attractions, and bus 100 or 200 to the other ones. Make your own breakfast, as hotel one is expensive. Good deli at railway station.
Not sure about price - we book far ahead to get the best one, and I think we have got it for about $150.It's only a block from the railway, so we've walked there with our luggage from Australia, after changing from the Hauptbahnhof, only one or two stops. Good Luck!

Forgot to say, re the Maritim, we've had two beds, easily big enough for 3 people

Check out Movenpick Hotel Berlin. Its very close to Potsdamer Platz and steps away from the subway entrance. We got a room for 3 for less than $150 (sofa bed). But price also depends on when you are staying. And the included breakfast is excellent.
