Please recommend a cheap Czech hotel

Hi, we leave in just a few weeks now and we're compiling all our information. I'm looking for a hotel in Cesky Kromlov for under 2,000 Koruna. Can anyone recommend anything. Location is the most important thing to us.
Natasha,

We have overnighted in Cesky Krumlov on two different trips.

I can recommend to you the following two hotels/pension that are in your price range.

Pension Barbakan (Double -1450 KC_
(Deluxe - 1950)
Hotel Konvice (Double - 1450)

Both include breakfast for the price, and each has a few parking spaces in front of the pension/hotel that can be reserved in conjunction with your room reservation. You must ask to reserve a space, they will not offer the information.

You can see pictures of both establishments on:

http://www.ckrumlov.cz

Both establishments offer private, modern baths and very good food in their respective restaurants. The Hotel Ruze, Cesky Krumlov's finest hotel is located on the same street, midway between the two pensions I recommended.

I'm sure you are aware of the major flood damage that Cesky Krumlov's historic center has sustained from the recent flooding. If not, you should do some reading of the Prague Post (on-line) to get details.

Their annual, late August music festival has been cancelled.

The Vltava snakes its way through Cesky Krumlov in the lowest part of town, which is also where the tourist office and many of the hotels/pension are located.

The two I recommended to you are on higher ground, about one block up from the main square in the old town. Both have beautiful views from their non-street facing rooms. Both are also located on Horni Street, which is the main ,one-way street into the heart of the old town. This location also puts you within yards of the police station---which will give you a feeling of security if you are bringing a car into Cesky.

Try the hotel Golden Angel, it is on the square and the single rooms were around $38/night. Very nice.

Cesky Krumlov has been so deep underwater that one have to wonder how fast will they recover from the floods. Any thoughts on the flooding and tourism in Prague, anyone? Natasha, I would try to reach the Czech Office of Tourism in NYC/website and inquire on the status.

Pension Na Louza was absolutely charming with antique furniture, but out room was teeny tiny. We didn't really care because the location was perfect--right inside the pedestrianized area in the heart of the old city. It is a family run establishment that has a restaurant on the first floor. This is not a fancy hotel with a concierge and desk, but rahter an establishment that offers rooms along with its restaurant. They were fully booked when we were there (I'll admit it was peak season) so even though we wanted to extend a night we couldn't. Price is around 1200. They have their own web-site if you want to check it out on-line and reserve that way. Parking is right behind the building with a special permit for guests. Try the home-made jelly filled dumplings for a caloric taste treat.
