Please help on Paris hotels

Hi everyone I'm a new Fodorite! My sister-in-law who organized a trip for 7 friends/family to Italy in 2008 told me about this Paradis. This is also where we found our private guide for the Egypt trip.

First, English is not my first language so please forgive my poor grammar and syntax. Me and DH are returning to France this summer for three and a half weeks arriving on August 1st. This will be our second time in France and we are planning to stay in Paris for one week this time before moving on to Normandie, Bretagne and La Loire. Two other couples might join us: First couple for one week in Paris only and the other couple for two weeks but only two or three days in Paris. First time in France for the two couples.

Question: Since we have a larger budget than our friends (150 euros a night ?), does anyone know of a hotel where they could have a double room for just under 100 euros and we could have a superior or a junior suite (for under 200 E)? I have been on the hotel tread and Parisby web site and now my head is spinning!! Also, last time we were in the 18 arrondissement but this time I would like to be more central: Marais, Louvre, Tour Eiffel, Latin Quarters. A metro close by is a must but we don't mind walking. Hotels that looked interesting were: Ducs d'Anjou, Ducs de Bourgogne, Relais Bosquet.

Any feedback will be appreciated, merci!

If you are interested in the 7th arrondisement you might try Hotel De L'Empereur at 2 rue Chevert. It can be found at www.hotelparismuguet.com The Empereur would fit you friends budget and your budget. It has just been bought by the owner of the Hotel Muguet which just up the street and is currently being renovated. It is a 2 star and the Hotel Muguet is a 3 star which would fit your budget. I know that the Empereur has rooms with views of Invalides. I am sure the renovations will be lovely as Madame Pelletier, the owner, has continually renovated the Muguet through the years. We will be in Paris in April and are going to have a look since we have friends who are staying at the Muguet and we are staying in an apartment this trip. Good Luck!

We stayed at the Muguet and were very satisfied. Not super-fancy or luxurious, but it's clean, comfortable & we loved the location.

Thanks Laidback! Hotel Muguet is one of the hotel I had bookmarked but never noticed L'empereur. I like the area. We considered apartments, two studios on a same street but at 1600 euros a week, it was a little too much for our friends. Which company are you using? Is it your first time renting an apartment?

Thanks alan64. Nice to hear from people who stayed there. For our friends, a hotel is a place to sleep. They're right since we are usually out an about all day but for a week I like to be, shall I say, comfortable. Beside it is fun to have a balcony or a seating area and have everyone over at night to sip wine.

I'd think that your friends could stay at Relais Bosquet and your budget is higher so you could rent one of their apartments . That way you could have a place to meet and have a glass of wine before going out for the evening.

Through the years we have used www.parisperfect.com , www.parispiedaterre.com , www.perfectlyparis.com ,www.frenchyrentals.com , VRBO and HOMEAWAY with great success. This is definitely not our first time renting apartments. 1600 euros for a studio seems high to me. Even some of ParisPerfect's studios are not that high and I consider them the best. The Muguet has a one bedroom apartment on rue St Dominique but it is only for a couple. We stayed in Homeaway #97127 in Oct. My comments have not yet posted on their site but will show up in a couple of days.I know it's in the 15th and not where you have been looking. We are staying with PerfectlyParis( Literary Malesherbes) in April and FrenchyRentals(St Lazare) in May. There are so many choices, you just have to search and search and to me that's half the fun. Good luck!

Hi Mrs. Laidback. I really have to pay more attention...I visited the sites for Muguet and Relais Bosquet and never noticed they had apartments. That is why I need Fodorite's fresh and experience eyes, thanks!

We've just booked the same one for June 27 - July 4. I'll post a reply after we've been there This is our first time to Paris, but friends of ours stay at the hotel every time they visit Paris and had no idea there was an apartment available.
