Well, look at it this way -- you're both women. 
I think that you should probably make it clear to your travel companion that you've done your best to get a room with two beds, but that circumstances may arise that make it impossible for you to have separate beds. Presumably she should be fine with that.

Ditto on the good luck. Hopefully you are booking off-season so getting a confirmed reservation from another hotel won't be a problem...and of course, should you need someone to go with you to work out any hotel issues or further translation duties ( menus being a favorite), I know someone who comes cheap Bon voyage, and do post a travel report when you get back

The original question has been answered several times, but I wanted to make a comment.
Someone advised to use babelfish (or a similar online translation tool). I would strongly advise *against* using those.
Babelfish and others translations result in gibberish. They're nevertheless useful for instance when you want to understand the general idea of the content of a text written in foreign language (say, a newspaper article).
But it's a bad idea to use it when what you want to translate is short, or more importantly when you really need something specific. Like in the case of reservations, orders, etc...
Maybe the translation will be close enough for the person to understand what you want. But maybe it won't make sense at all. Or, worst case scenario, but given my experiences with the result of bablefish translations, not unlikely, he will guess or understand something else, and you won't get what you wanted at all (for instance, as pointed by someone in this thread two connected bedrooms will be waiting for you instead of a room with two beds).
