Please help me plan my day in Milan.

We will be leaving Bellagio by public transportation on Friday morning on our way to Venice. Since we will be in Milan, we would like to see the Duomo and The Last Supper. We would like to be in Venice by about 7PM. Is this doable?

How much time should I leave for each of these places? I am concerned about getting from 1 to the other and back to the train. Which should I do first?

I know we will be rushed, but I do not know when we will get back to Milan again, so if we can, we really do want to see these things.

We do have some flexibility on the Vencie arrival time if necessary.

Thanks

Debby

Hi again Debby!

You should have no problem doing it all if you start early from Bellagio.
Bellagio to Milan should be about 1 hour by train. From Milano Centrale you can either hop a taxi or use the Metro to go to the Duomo. 1 - 1 1/2 hour at the Duomo should be enough.

You will need advance reservations for the Last Suppler. The phone number has been posted here many times. Do a search under "Last Supper". I didn't get in on my last trip, but I understand viewing time for each group is like 20 minutes.

You can walk between the duomo & the Last Supper, or take a cab.

Then back to Milano Centrale for train to Venice. Takes 3 hours. Recommend advance reservations for this leg. It's always crowded.

Buon viaggio!

Are you sure about a train from Bellagio to Milan? I thought it left from Varenna and/or Como! If that's the case, you'd have to take a ferry/hydrofoil from Bellagio first before catching a train to Milan.

Howard's right. The most convenient railway station is Como.

Sorry, Debby! I forgot the train doesn't go to Bellagio. I went in/out of Varenna.

You will also have time in Milan for a stroll though the Galleria & a peek inside La Scalla if you are interested.

Have fun...

Dayle, I hate to correct you again (sorry, I say this in the most friendly way), but Debby may not be able to peek into LaScala since it's closed for a major restoration! However, Debby, you can still visit the adjoining museum, which I believe is still open and well worth your time. It's near the Duomo and Galleria. So, you can take them all in. And, if you've got time continue walking through the nearby fashion district, which is also worth your time.
