Days 4 & 5 have an awful lot of train travel. From Garmish to Chur you'll have to change trains at least twice, and take a minimum of 4 1/2 hours. On day 5 here is the schedule for the Bernina Express:
http://www.rhb.ch/berninaexpress/berninaexpress.e.php
You'll then wait up to 2 hours to connect with the 2 1/2 hour ride from Tirano to Milan.
You can see all train schedules on www.bahn.de (Int. Guests) for English
I think on this trip with time constraints, I'd skip Rome, depart from Milan, and use your 2 days in Rome in the Alps (Innsbruck or San Moritz) to break up the travel time, or from Tirano I'd train to Varenna on Lake Como on the route to Milan, spend a day or two there, then on to Milan. You'll waste at least 1/2 day flying from Milan to Rome.

thanks for the tips, to clarify:
this trip is at the end of march, start of april
we will be in chur, on april 4th
we want to go on the bernina express the only way there from garmisch, I found is by train. I can't find flights, or ones that are reasonably priced
