Please Critique Germany Switzerland Italy trip
I was wondering if you all can please critique my trip plan and give me your two cents if you have any ideas if it can be improved.. thanks
Day 1 arrive Garmisch Day 2 Garmisch Day 3 Garmisch Day 4 travel via train to Chur switzerland from Garmisch to catch bernina express next day Day 5 bernina express from chur to torino Italy then catch train to milan(do you need reservations for this train, I think so!) Day 6 milan Day 7 milan Two days in milan for shopping at outlets and around milan Day 8 Milan to Rome via plane Day 9 ROme Day 10 Rome to Home |
Don't you mean that you are taking the Bernina Express to Tirano</> and not Torino?
|
Days 4 & 5 have an awful lot of train travel. From Garmish to Chur you'll have to change trains at least twice, and take a minimum of 4 1/2 hours. On day 5 here is the schedule for the Bernina Express:
http://www.rhb.ch/berninaexpress/berninaexpress.e.php You'll then wait up to 2 hours to connect with the 2 1/2 hour ride from Tirano to Milan. You can see all train schedules on www.bahn.de (Int. Guests) for English I think on this trip with time constraints, I'd skip Rome, depart from Milan, and use your 2 days in Rome in the Alps (Innsbruck or San Moritz) to break up the travel time, or from Tirano I'd train to Varenna on Lake Como on the route to Milan, spend a day or two there, then on to Milan. You'll waste at least 1/2 day flying from Milan to Rome. |
You're going to get different opinions on your itinerary.
Mine is: Stay in Milan one day and then take the train to Rome (4.5 hours to Termini) for four nights. When will you be in Chur? |
thanks for the tips, to clarify:
this trip is at the end of march, start of april we will be in chur, on april 4th we want to go on the bernina express the only way there from garmisch, I found is by train. I can't find flights, or ones that are reasonably priced |
