We will be touring italy in june. my dd has a psp game player and wants to know if her charger will work in italy. will she need an adaptor?

OK, I'm sitting squarely on my hands for this and biting my tongue, but no, tell her it won't work there. Sorry, she'll actually have to leave it home and find something else to do in Italy.

You know, I think the original poster wanted a serious answer as opposed to a debate about bringing these devices on a European trip. By the way, back in the days when I schlepped kids on home exchanges, a Game Boy was effective anesthesia for young boys on long flights. Once we got there, the young boy in question was always too busy to pay much attention to the Game Boy. And I always had a new game or two in my pocket for the planes back and forth.

The practical answer is to check the charger and see if it is dual voltage. If it is, all you will need is a plug adapter to plug into Italian sockets. If it is not you will need a converter and the plug adapter. Most things are dual voltage these days.

Adults often bring a laptop and/or an iPAQ as a toy. For kids a play station can fill the same purpose--and provide diversion when travel crankiness sets in. It is just a question of not getting obsessed with such games.

Or, I should have added obsessed with a computer. I do wonder about adults who cannot stay off line for a few days on vacation.
