Places to visit within one hour of Pienza?

We will be staying a few miles south of Pienza for four nights next month. Looking for interesting places and towns to visit with an hours drive. We have been to Montepulciano, Montalcino, Siena, and Bagno Vignoni. Any recommendations or others? We were thinking that Cortona looked interesting.

Hi B,

You might want to consider Orvieto and Sinalunga.

Orvieto definately. The cathedral has beautiful marble windows and the town has great places to eat..some in the square looking at the cathedral. Good parking too.

Oh great. We spend hours slaving over a hot keyboard looking for someplace within one hour of Pienza, a place that no one has heard of, that you might like to visit and you say, "Sorry".

You won't get away that easily, BC, you are hereby condemned to a night in Bagno Vignoni.

Go to Montechiello. A very small town with a great restaurant. We had lunch at La Taverna, chef Massimo. Worth a trip.
