Pitlochry, Scotland

Friends have told us this is a charming town. They recommend the Scotlands Hotel. Any other suggestions? Sally

We spent several days near there a few years ago at the Kinnaird Hotel in Dunkeld - one of the nicest hotels we've ever discovered. There's a very interesting tiny distillery in Pitlochry called Eradour which offers a fascinating tour in a very pretty spot.

I like Pitlochry for shopping for things to bring home, but besides that, I like to go further into the highlands. It all depends on what you are looking to do and see.

Pitlochry I definitely a town for shopping in. It has a huge range of hotels and it really depends on the type you like.

My personal prefrence in the town is the Moulin Inn.

The Scotland's is fine but not classy. Classy is the Atholl Palace.

I agree, the Atholl Palace is a wonderful, beautiful place to stay, with gorgeous acreage that you can wander about on. The food was absolutely excellent--I think I had the best breakfast in Scotland there. When we were there, a wedding took place and the men in the bridal party all wore kilts and looked handsome, indeed! There is also a live theater in Pitlochry. If you go, try to buy your tickets early because they sell out fast. As mentioned earlier, Pitlochry has many, many shops and the town is lovely.
