Pisa Hotel
After a week in Florence, my friend and I will be flying out of Pisa on a 7am flight. We plan to spend the day and night before in Pisa. Can anyone recommend a cute hotel? Doesn't have to be glamorous, but something with charm.
From what I've read, we can take a cab to the airport fairly cheaply from town, so we don't need to stay near the airport.
Also, what activities can you recommend, other than the tower? Any great restaurants, secret spots, etc?
Many thanks!!

I once checked out a few places to stay in Pisa, but then needed to change my plans, so you would need to track down recent reviews. But two places that appealed to me were Relais Sassetti and Relais dell'Ussero.
As for tourist Pisa beyond the tower, this is a good article

Also, when you go to the area of the tower, don't neglect to go inside all the buildings other than the tower. They are incredibly beautiful and fascinating -- and the best way to get away from all those fools outside posing for pictures. They don't go inside. The museums associated with the buildings are also very interesting. Read about them before you go.

I spent one night at the Royal Victoria on the banks of the River Arno.
Very faded grandeur, stuffed with antique furniture and old prints and pictures. There is a wonderful roof terrace where you can order drinks. I loved this hotel, it was like taking a step back in time.

It's a 10 minute walk to the Campo dei Miracoli, and the town itself is delightful.
