<BR>I was told that American ATM/Debit/Credit cards with a PIN number beginning with 0 are incompatible with European ATMs. Is this true?

I've had no trouble in France or Italy with mine over the past few years.

I've used mine in both England and France with no trouble at all.

<BR>HEY! I had the same problem. I used my Bank of America gold card in France, but was unable to use French ATMs. My pin begins with 0! Now I know why it didn't work!

The 0 has nothing to do with it, also does NOT have to be only 4 digits...all that is OLD news from the pleistocene age of ATMS!

We used ours starting w/0 all throughout Italy last year, and had no problem whatsoever. (other than spending too much money!!) Helaine

We used our ATM card in Germany and Austria as recently as May. I was concerned about this too, but we never had any problems whatsoever.

<BR>On my Riggs Bank account, my pin is 052759. That's my birthday. I never had a problem even though it is 6 digits and begins with 0.

In the last few years I've used my ATM card in Greece, France, Germany, Austria, Poland, Romania, Hungary, Spain and Portugal with no problems. It is 4 digits and starts with a 0.

Hi John..thanks so much for that information. Now, please change your PIN! The first # I will try when I steal your wallet is your birthday (which I will get from your license). The next will be your address, then your phone and/or ssn. Of course, since you are willing to post your PIN # on a board, you probably also have it written on your card!
