Scarlett, I never doubted your grandfather was a chef and something tells me you only dream of being light and fluffy. ><

LaurenSKahn, dear, the grandmother reference was just a fond, early memory not a curriculum vitae. Now, don't let your kreplach stick to the pan.

Oh Good, I am glad that you believe me!
Who knows, you might have even been the recipient of his expertise, back in it's heyday, he was the chef at the Fountainbleu in Florida and then at a lovely place in New Orleans. I was a little too young to appreciate the finer points of dining in those days~
As for light and fluffy, I do try, I do try.

I don't make kreplach, but my Grandma did. It never stuck to the pan either. And, yes, your fond early memories did look like you were using them for us to kow tow to your supposed expertise.

My Grandma also made a mean chevils food cake too, but the cake I would kill for was the apple cake. Oh, that crust! I wish I had that recipe. I have tried several different Jewish cookbooks and never could find one that matched Grandma's--or even came close.

And she really did cater Joe Lieberman's bar mitzvah--and his parents' wedding as well. So that makes my opinion just as good as yours, NYFoodSnob.

In fact, if my Grandma had not been THE kosher caterer in Stamford, CT, my opinion would still be just as good as anyone else's.

I have many fond memories of my Grandmother. She is gone over 30 years and I still miss her. Wonderful lady, but I have to admit that I never much cared for kosher cooking Eastern European style.

Now, NYFoodSnob, please do not choke on your leftover Passover dried out matzo balls. Have a nice day and try being a tad more tolerant of us lesser mortals.
