Passport Control or Security for short layover in FRA?

Hi all-

I'm a new member.

We are traveling to Hurghada, Egypt from Seattle.

We have a layover in Frankfurt and Cairo. My question is regarding Frankfurt airport.

It appears our arrival gate and departure gate are very close. Since this is a quick layover for a connecting flight, will we need to go through security and/or passport control, or can we just go to our departure gate?

Thank you!

You are not entering Germany - therefore you will not go through Immigration. I don;t know about security - may vary based on the destination.

I expect you will go through security again. You normally do when transferring.

When I transferred through Frankfurt on the way to Barcelona (April) I did go through immigration but I did not have to go through security again since my arrival and departure gates were very close and both flights were Lufthansa. Every other time I've transited through Frankfurt I did have to go through security.

For the Barcelona trip, Frankfurt was my entry into the Schengen zone and that may be why I went through immigration.

Thanks for the replies, everyone.

I ask because we have a 90 minute layover, and I'm just trying to get an idea of how much of a mad dash we're looking at. We are flying Lufthansa to FRA, and our connecting flight from FRA to Cairo is Lufthansa as well.

You wouldn't go through Immigration at Frankfurt because you are neither entering Germany or entering the Schengen Zone.

You will definitely go through security.
