Passport and Drivers License?

Yes, take your license if you plan to rent any audio guides at museums. They often require you leave an ID with them until you return the audio guide. Many people prefer to leave their DL over leaving their passport.

Yes, I take my license everywhere I go. First, it functions as a source of ID. I've used it numerous times in Europe as ID when I don't have my passport on me. kybourbon gives another good reaosn, you can leave it as deposit. Those places usually take CCs, though, not just passports or DLs.
I drive to the airport anyway, so of course I would, but even if I didn't I don't go anywhere without it. What if something unusual happened and you had to rent a car upon return for example? I've had flights diverted to places 100 miles from where I lived, and I'd rather rent a car than wait 10 hours for another flight, for example.
I just don't know what the advantage would be of not taking it, it hardly is a big burden. I guess if you think you could lose it, but then you'd never carry it around with you at home.

Whether a U.S. drivers license serves as an source of ID is discretionary.
If you are unfortunate to lose your passport, U.S. consulate considers it as a valid ID.

"Identification (driver's license, expired passport etc.)"
But, of course, not a proof of U.S. citizenship "Evidence of U.S. citizenship (birth certificate, photocopy of your missing passport)."
