Party of Five in Venice?
We're looking to spend 3 or 4 nights in Venice next May...2 adults and 3 older teens. I've started looking, and since it's high season have been finding very high prices. Anyone know any nice, charming, but not too expensive hotels or B & B's (less than $300/night, total) with triple and double, or large family room? Doesn't need to be fancy, but if it were on a canal or had a small canal view, it would be even better! I've thought about apartments, too, but we don't need the kitchen, etc, AND we'll only be there for 3 or 4 nights.
Thanks, Judy

Judy, when we stayed at the Pensione Accademia, I noticed there was a large family staying in a large room just off the piano nobili (for us the 2nd floor) in the main building. This room would have a fantastic view as it was on the corner where the small canal meets the Grand Canal. The family was comprised of younger children as well as teens so not sure about beds. Frankly with teens, you might be better off with separate rooms with 2 baths! Here's the URL to an article about good budget hotels

The Bernardi-Semenzato is mentioned in the article & here as a good family place. Evidently their annex is perferable to the main building. Here's a post I copied for you.

Message: We really liked the Bernardi-Semenzato. We are a family of five. Stay in the annex only! Ask for the largest room they have. It was a great price and nice and clean. I did not like the hotel (when I peeked in) as much as I loved the annex.
Finally, if you can get an apt that suits your needs, don't worry about not "using" the kitchen. It still may be cheaper, more room & more convenient than a hotel.

You might want to look at a B&B called Gli Angeli, we stayed there in October and it was great. They have an apartment that sleeps 4 for 150 euros and a separate room next to it that sleeps 2 for 98 euros. I think the names of the rooms are blu and oro -- or something like that. It might be tough to get both available at the same time though. Here's the web site if you want to have a look: http://www.gliangeli.net.. You can do a search and find comments from people who stayed there -- myself included.

Pensione La Calcina is a great place to stay, I am not sure of their larger room configurations. But the price would be about what you want. www.lacalcina.com

Try Hotel Wildner....we've stayed in both their double & triple rooms. In the high season 200 euros per night... including breakfast & THE MOST AMAZING VIEW!!!
The hotel is located at the San Zaccaria vaporetto stop, making it extremely convenient. San Zaccaria stop is one of the stops for Piazza San Marco.

Coincidentally I was looking at this site today:

An apartment for 5 would suit your needs. There are other options also.
