I think that is anti-tourist policy from this company.
I dont know nothing about the kind of violation. Just day, time and city. We went to 4 cities. I have 2 or 3 violation
in every city. (Milan,Verona,Venecia and Bologna). In Bologna the violation are 3 with differential time 10 min.
(Maybe I had stopped the car with alarm on. I was near the center but there where other cars in the same way)

I ask JuliaVitkova: After the mail of rental company, did you received payment request from the authorities with the details of violations?
Locauto just send me a comprehensive reply by mail. It is mentioned among others:
"However, after further investigating your issue, Locauto Rent decided to charge you for just one fine and refund you the remaining amount of € 341,60 as a commercial gesture."
I am satisfied from this rental company. I am waiting for the charges from ITA authorities (

That is good news, after all, it probably cost them the same to process as a one-off infraction. Well done!

Other cars may have been registered as "local" to the city number plate recognition system. Not all cars are equal in Italy.....

Is it anti-tourist, yesish, it puts the rights of locals who contribute to the community 365 days a year above those who only contribute for a few. Seems reasonable to me, plus by keeping the number of cars down in tiny old cities it helps keep the place look beautiful and attractive for everyone, finally it helps reduce car usage/car jams and moves more people onto public transport so helping to reduce CO2 production.

If it was a ZTL ( I doubt the Millan ones are) then it's affects more than tourists. Many residents of Rome can't drive into the ZTL area. Not just Rome but those limits basically apply to anybody who isn't resident inside them.

In Bologna the violation are 3 with differential time 10 min.
You were driving around a block and ignored the same ZTL sign 3 times in 10 minutes.
Do you know there is a congestion charge area in Milan? You had 5 days after you entered to pay the € 5 fee.

In Venicd, did you drive on the causeway connecting the mainland district and the island? If so, there are so many signs saying "50" because of the speed trap 100 meters after each sign. The leeway is only 5 km per hour, drive at 60 and... you already know it.
