What happens if we don't pay our traffic ticket from Italy?

Hello All!

We just got a traffic ticket from our trip to Italy 10 months ago. Yes, we had no idea we'd crossed that magic line into the limited traffic area of Arezzo! Our bad!

I know the right thing to do is to pay the fine(108Euros). My question is: what will happen if we don't? I'd at least like to be armed with that information.

Anyone know?

Happy travels!

Assuming you hired the car then the hire company will end up paying the fine. Then they'll charge your CC for the fine plus an admin fee

You won't get much sympathy here. If you look at previous posts the majority say...you did the crime, pay the fine.

Also, alanRow is correct. In most cases the rental car company will charge your acct.

Thanks alanRow and Ann1. I figured that the fine would come through the rental car company in some eventual way. I wasn't looking for sympathy at all, just wanting to know what would happen if we demurred.

I had actually tried to find previous posts on the subject having recalled in the back of my mind that there had been postings about that. Couldn't locate anything with my search criteria.

Bye for now...and thanks again!

Assuming you are from US, there is an extradition agreement between Italy and US, valid from 2000 for traffic related ofenses.
